This timeless beauty, a vintage Crown Trifari rhinestone necklace patented by Alfred Phillipe in 1953. The necklace is marked Trifari Pat Pend. The patent number for the necklace is 170609. This patent was issued on 10/13/53 to Alfred Philippe. The design is called Abstract similar to Comet in the book "Collecting Costume Jewelry 202 " by Julia C. Carroll on page 206. A thick loop wraps around the four lines of " shooting " rhinestones. The gold tone setting is set with clear baguette rhinestones with a flexible sturdy chain. The rhinestones are bright and sparkling. The necklace measures 15 1/2 inches long. The necklace measures 1 1/8 inches wide at the center front. It has a hook clasp. It was very hard to get a good picture of this set.The matching bracelet is also well constructed with sparkling clear rhinestone baguettes. It measures approximately 7 inches with a fold over clasp, a flexible linked band and is also signed Trifari pat pend. There is some very slight wear from rubbing on the edge of the upper part of the loop, hardly noticeble,no peeling or flaking. The patent number for the bracelet is 170,608.
